Robert Vollmöller

Biography

German merchant and textile entrepreneur who manufactured the health underwear promoted by Gustav Jäger. In 1910, Robert Vollmöller was the largest jersey manufacturer in the world with 3,000 employees.

He owned Hohenbeilstein Castle in Beilstein since 1898 and built the Lioba country house in Liebenzell, which later became the basis for the mission house of the Liebenzeller Mission.

Vollmöller had four sons and five daughters with his wife Emilie, including the painter Mathilde Vollmoeller-Purrmann (1876–1943), the writer and entrepreneur Karl Gustav Vollmoeller (1878–1948), the aviation pioneer Hans Vollmöller (1889–1917) and the antiquarian, bibliophile and writer Kurt Vollmöller (1890-1936).

He suffered several strokes in the spring of 1911 and died on 28 October of the same year, the day before his 62nd birthday.
