Biography
American businesswoman, President of CBS Paramount Television Network Entertainment Group.
The daughter of an anesthesiologist mother and surgeon father, she early on got hooked on fan magazines. Little did she know then that she would become a top mogul for the entertainment industry. Her adolescent dream was a career in politics. In college, she majored in political science, earning her bachelor's at the University of California, Berkeley ion 1975. In the summer of 1974 she interned for a liberal California Representative, Ron Dellems, who found himself on Richard Nixon's enemies list. In 1979, with her eye still on a political or law career, she completed her JD degree from Hastings College of Law at the University of California in San Francisco. She practiced law in Los Angeles for four years, working in the legal affairs department of a television production company. There she met Les Moonves, an executive who became influential in her career.
The two have been said to be joined at the hip since 1987; together the duo created TV hit series like "Friends" and "ER," "Survivor" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigations." Moonves brought her to CBS in 1997 in the hopes that she can help turn around the network.
She is married to Arn Tellem, a big-time sports agent and they have three boys. Her father, Dr. George Reiss died in May 2004 at age 90.
