Biography
Italian painter from Florence, whose career flourished during the High Renaissance and early Mannerism. Though highly regarded during his lifetime as an artist senza errori ("without errors"), his renown was eclipsed after his death by that of his contemporaries, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. His notable works include Birth of the Virgin (1514) and Madonna of the Harpies (1517). Andrea del Sarto died in Florence at age 43 during an outbreak of Bubonic Plague in either 1530 or 1531.

Source Notes
Translation: This thing clearly showed that in no way could you understand that in that document was talk of our Andrea. But being in the service of this reprint our research takes us to these Registers of Baptism, where we read in the period from 1479 to 1489, on 17 July 1486, that "to Andrea and Domenico d'Angelo Francesco, citizens of Santa Maria Novella, was born on day 16, at 18 hours." This document, which is no doubt about our painter, establishes finally the year, month and day of birth, ending every dispute or uncertainty around this detail of his life until now.
Scholfield calculates sunset at 7:30pm so adding 18 hours for Florentine time makes 1:30pm.
