Biography
Italian film director whose "Mediterraneo" won the 1992 Oscar as Best Foreign Film and the "Nastro d’Argento" or Best Director, also for "Mediterraneo." Salvatores studied at the Academy of Drama in Milan and directed his first stage play in 1972. His directing of film began in 1976 and he has totaled over 20 films and stage productions, as well as five other noted awards.
