Biography
Norwegian businessman, investor, and shipowner. He is a trained naval officer from the Norwegian Naval Academy and has a master's degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In 1972 he married Cecilie Wilhelmsen, daughter of shipowner Tom Wilhelmsen. Paus and his wife relocated to Athens, Greece, in 1972, and to London, UK, in 1979.
Paus has held management positions re shipping at Citibank before establishing himself as an independent investor in shipping and petroleum activities via the company Pausco with offices in Oslo and London.
In 1986 he took over 40% of the shares in the traditional shipping company Herness Shipping. He has been a major shareholder and board member of Scorpion Offshore, and owns together with his family the investment company Pausco. He has been the largest owner of the oil rig company Seajacks. He was also a member of the supervisory board at Wilh. Wilhelmsen.
Christopher Paus is the brother of the petroleum investor Peder Paus, and Cornelia Paus; the siblings took over the now protected property Esviken in Asker from their parents, but sold it to Asker municipality in 1999. He is the father of designer Pontine Paus and businesswoman Olympia Paus.
