Biography

French film critic, educator and writer of books on the cinema. He taught literature and cinema at the University of Lyon. Specializing in film aesthetics, he was a chair at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle between 1996 and 2001. In 1966 he wrote one of the first books on the work of Julien Gracq. He wrote for the magazines Artsept, Trafic and Positif. He died on 29 April 2011 in Paris.
