Biography
German writer.
Flake professional career was in Paris and Berlin , where he was a regular contributor to the Neue Rundschau and later worked with the largest circulation authors of Weimar Republic. During this time he made numerous trips. During the First World War, Otto Flake worked in the civil administration in Brussels . Early in 1918 he was head of the cultural section briefly in the newly founded German Allgemeine Zeitung in Berlin. In Zurich he joined the circle of the Dadaists. In 1933 Flake signed along with 87 German writers declaration of loyality to Adolf Hitler. After the war ended in 1945 Flake was the French occupation forces appointed to the Arts Council of Baden-Baden, who was entrusted with the organization of exhibitions and lectures. As a native of Lorraine , he campaigned for reconciliation between Germans and French. As an author he has been since 1945, first hardly noticed. In 1954, Otto Flake the Johann-Peter-Hebel-price of the country Baden-Wuerttemberg.
He Was a prolific writer. His extensive œuvre includes two volumes of naïvely, humorous fairy tales, reworking traditional folk, tale characters and beliefs.
Otto Flake was married five times, twice to the mother of his daughter Eva Maria.
He died 10 November 1963 in Baden-Baden.
