Biography

American writer and noted family, the daughter of U.S. President Harry S. Truman. She sang as an opera coloratura 1947-1954; became a radio and TV hostess; and a bank director. She found her niche as the author of over 20 books (by 2000). a noted mystery writer. She married newspaper editor Clifton Daniel on 4/21/1956; four sons. They kept a low social profile.

She was widowed with Clifton's death in February 2000, followed by the loss on 9/04/2000 by her son Will, who was struck by a New York taxi and killed. She filed a $4 million wrongful death suit against the driver and the cab company on 3/06/2001.
