Biography
Italian noted family (also known as John Baptist Cardan, eldest son of Jerome Cardan/ Girolamo Cardano), named Giambattista. His younger brother, Aldo, was a wastrel, a ne'er-do-well and petty thief. John was a gifted doctor following his father's lead but was arrested, tried, convicted and executed for murdering his wife with a focaccia laced with arsenic when he found himself cuckolded. He was beheaded on 14 April 1569 NS (9 April 1569 OS.)
