Tom Brady

Biography

American football quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL) since 2020. Nicknamed Tom Terrific, he spent the first 20 seasons of his career with the New England Patriots, where he was a central contributor to the franchise's dynasty from 2001 to 2019. Brady is widely considered to be the greatest quarterback of all time.

In high school, Brady earned two letters in both football and baseball and was drafted in the 18th round of the 1995 Major League Baseball Draft as a catcher by the Montreal Expos. He majored in Organizational Studies at University of Michigan. Brady's grace under pressure had won him praise from coaches and fans alike while his success, good looks and model demeanor have earned him the designation of "heart throb" from fans everywhere.

He was a quarterback with the New England Patriots for two years when he was named starting quarterback in 2002 due to Drew Bledsoe's injuries. In a controversial decision by Coach Belichick, Brady was retained for the following year's starting position, and Bledsoe left the team, making Brady's position permanent.

On 1 February 2004, the Patriots won the Superbowl the second time in three years (first win in 2002); Brady was named MVP., the youngest football league player to date to win a second MVP.

His ex-girlfriend Bridget Monahan announced in mid-February 2007 that she was pregnant with his baby. In the meantime he had become romantically involved with Gisele Bündchen, Leonardo diCaprio’s ex-girlfriend.

Monahan gave birth to their child on 22 August 2007 in Los Angeles, California. The boy’s name is John Edward Thomas Moynahan. Brady and Bundchen became engaged on 9 January 2009. She was born in Brazil on 20 July 1980 according to her website. They married quietly, away from the press on 26 February 2009 "just before 6 p.m. at the St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, California" according to Usmagazine.com. The couple had a second wedding for family and friends on 4 April 2009 in Costa Rica. Their son Benjamin Rein was born on 8 December 2009.

Brady was just leaving his Boston home on the morning of 9 September 2010 when another car crashed into him at about 6:30 AM EDT. Luckily for Brady, his family and the team, he was not hurt and reported for practice later that day.

On 20 January 2011 he had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot. Brady and Bundchen welcomed a daughter named Vivian Lake, born "Wednesday night," 5 December 2012 at their home in Boston.

The NFL announced on 11 May 2015, that it would suspend Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for four games of the upcoming 2015 regular season for his alleged part in tampering with footballs by the New England Patriots. The accusation was that the New England Patriots tampered with footballs used in the American Football Conference (AFC) Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts on 18 January 2015. After NFL commissioner Roger Goodell upheld the suspension in an internal appeal, the matter was moved to federal court. On 3 September 2015, Judge Richard M. Berman vacated Goodell's four-game suspension of Brady, holding that "...the requisites of fairness and due process" were missing from the process leading to the settlement.

Brady joined the Buccaneers in 2020, and led them to win Super Bowl LV, extending his individual records to 10 Super Bowl appearances and seven victories.

On 1st February 2022, he announced his retirement.
