Biography

American character actor whose career in Hollywood, in films and television, spanned four decades, from the mid 1950s into the 1980s.

He played U.S. Army Lt. General Richard K. Sutherland in the film MacArthur (1977) and Hollywood film director Howard Hawks in made-for-TV movie Rita Hayworth: The Love Goddess (1983).

From 1966-1971, and then from 1973-1979, he had a recurring role as Chase Murdock on the ABC-TV daytime soap opera series General Hospital.

Ivan Bonar died on 8 December 1988 at age 64 in Los Angeles, California.
