Biography
Norwegian politician of the Labour Party who was head of the department for Health and the Elderly in Oslo 1992–93, for Children and Education 1993–95, and for Finance and Planning 1995–97. From 2011 to 2014, she was municipal director of ownership and industry in Oslo municipality.
Balas was first elected to the Oslo city council in 1983. She was head of European Movement International Norway 1995-1999. Balas is married to Labour Party politician Bjørn Tore Godal.
