Don Bachardy

Biography

American gay artist, partner of Christopher Isherwood from 1953 until Isherwood's death in 1986.

Bachardy's first one-man exhibition was held in October 1961 and he has exhibited all over the world. His work is also part of museum collections including The Smithsonian and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. Seven books of his work have been published, the first in 1980 with Christopher Isherwood, and the seventh in 1999.
